About Us

We love baseball. This site is dedicated to following the Cubs and the Cardinals from different perspectives from around the country.

The contributors are:

John Mark:

John Mark was the founder of 101 Years and Counting which soon became TheOutfieldIvy.com in May of 2010.  A lifelong Cubs fan from Normal, IL, he also has contributed to sites like bleacherreport.com and digitalsportsdaily.com.  He is married to a real hottie and has the coolest 6 year old in the world.  He  has been the commissioner for an NL-only Fantasy Baseball League with college friends for 10+ years.  Oh, and he’s pretty sure Mayo is not a salad dressing.

Aaron:

Aaron was born and raised in Decatur, Illinois and was proclaimed a Cubs fan by his grandfather the minute he was born.  He currently lives in San Francisco and wonders how easy it will be to remain a Cubs fan so far from home (it’s not going so well, especially with the Giants recent success).  You can find more info about what Aaron does and is about on his site.

:

Josh Cannon is a 1999 inductee into the NES Bases Loaded Hall of Fame.  He’s a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan that has his own blog but does not want it linked here in case it jeopardizes his career. No joke.

Kyle:

Born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, Kyle embraced the Cubs over the Cardinals solely because of his best friend in kindergarten’s Starter jacket (I swear it was cool in 1990).  He once posed as a Cardinals fan in order to get in good with an ex-girlfriend’s family.  It was in this time that he witnessed the evils of the St. Louis fans firsthand.  He had to pay a penance of two innings next to Ronnie Woo Woo in the bleachers to make up for it.  Lesson learned.

Dustin:

Dustin is a lifelong Cubs fan from Somonauk, Illinois. His favorite baseball movie is Bull Durham. He was a two-time All-Star in Somonauk Little League Baseball and led his team in home runs in t-ball. Dustin now resides in Peru, Illinois with his cat Millie.

Soebeck:

SoeBeck grew up in Champaign, IL, and has been a redbird fan since 1985 when he can first remember hearing Jack Buck call games on his parents radio. SoeBeck is a youth minister, an Illini fan, and makes use of his Cardinal clergy pass as often as he can.  He resides in Springfield, IL with his weiner dog Oscar.

Ben:

Ben was born and raised in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.  While his dad tried to raise him to love the Cubs, it didn’t work and he’s been a die-hard Cardinals fan since 1982.  He still resides in Bloomington-Normal with his wife and three daughters, who all bleed Cardinal red (his dad has been converted as well).  He works for the Illinois Education Association and freelances in graphic and web design.

Jeff:

Jeff Gentry is a 4th generation Cardinals fan who remembers heckling Jody Davis fans at Busch on the day the Cards clinched the pennant in 1985. The last two times he was at Busch Jeff has stumbled into totally sober altercations with local police. He blames these altercations on being Boston based fan of a midwestern team. Jeff is blessed to have a wife who is a peacemaker, two beautifully assertive children and the opportunity to amplify the imago dei in others on a daily basis.

** We are currently looking for one more Cardinals contributor.  If you are interested in filling this role, e-mail John Mark at jmwoelfel@yahoo.com for more information.

We created this site to be a fun place to follow the seasons of (in our opinion) baseball’s best rivalry.

Let’s be honest, we all need a place to make fun of our rival team. That’s what this space is for. So stop by and comment often.
